I'm a week from being 41
and my Mother showed me today
that other people
will ALWAYS rank higher
with her
than me.
Someone else
is always more important.
I found myself
dissembled
and alone in that reveal
as it finally sunk in.
We are all of us
truly, totally, terribly
alone....
except for ourselves.
I wish I were better company.
